Due to the low urban density, Trancoso’s sky is excellent for stargazing. We do this in two places: at the RPPN viewpoint or at the pousada itself.

The astronomer who leads the experience is trilingual (Portuguese, Spanish and English) and uses a laser pointer to locate the main stars and draw the constellations on the sky. He also provides a lot of information on how to find your way around the stars, the origin of the constellations’ names, and even trivia about astrology.

At the end of the activity, the guide takes a prolonged exposure photo, and you can even see stars that aren’t visible to the naked eye. It’s a fun and interesting activity for all ages. Remember that this activity is weather dependent.
